I finally finished Dust…
Damn, WHAT A JOY THIS GAME WAS, never have I experienced a simple action game like this game, the combos were simple but still badass, dust storm was very fun to use, the characters were all charming and I liked the story and it made me feel like the whole thing is not even told yet. I think we are going to see new Elysian “tails” by Dean “Noogy” Dodrill.
The game mechanics were quite decent, there were some things that bugged me just a bit, such as not being able to recover from many repeated attacks. Some explots I found in were you can hover eternally with an aerial combo. The inventory even while interesting I feel like it needed something different, maybe different mechanics or attack modifiers… maybe something to do with speed…. but hey…
You can only expect so much from a game created and programmed by one dude.
But yet then, the secrets were very cool, there are many cameos of other games, even Bastion. At some times when fighting you feel like a fucking BADASS by taking on multiple enemies, the quests were NOT annoting which is actually astonishing for this kind of game genre, finding hidden secrets are very rewarding and worthwhile, I did feel like the inventory played a huge part for your character as well which is another thing that action games don’t really do much anymore. Noogy pretty much has a fresh view for making the gamer enjoy their time. And the music HNGGGGG
The music was a sweet marshmellowy heaven which I would listen to everyday… I hope HyperDuck studios continues to make epic soundtracks, the tracks were also very fitting to every single stage, never were they out of place.
I highly recommend this game to people who want something fresh, relaxing and also exciting.
If the game were made by a team it would be a 8/10
But I am someone who values this kind of work when it is made by ONE DUDE, I hope Dead Dodrill brings much more for us in the future.
For those who also don’t know, Dean is making an animated feature film based on the Elysian universe
Would look at it go again
This game also inspired me to continue my story stuff :D
so there ya go.
